Today I’m going to show you a quick and clever way to give your throw pillows a face-lift that uses absolutely NO SEWING! Hooray!
I bought a couple of cute Christmas pillows for the holidays this past year, and rather than put them into storage, I decided to spruce them up with new fabric so we can use them year round!
I took step-by-step pictures to share with you, so grab a pillow, and let’s get crafting!
For this super easy DIY project, you will need:
- A square pillow (a rectangle might work too, but you’d have to play with the fabric shape)
- A square piece of fabric roughly twice as wide and tall as your pillow (I used some orange anti-pill fleece I had in my stock)
First, lay your fabric flat so it looks like a diamond. Lay your pillow on top of the fabric, centered in the middle, so each side is lined up with a point of the fabric.
Next, fold the bottom point of your fabric diamond over the pillow.
Then, fold the top down as well, making sure to tuck under the point so you have a nice, clean line across the middle of the pillow, like so:
You should have two points of fabric on either side of your pillow. You’re going to fold one of these points over:
…and then take the second point and fold it over as well, tying the two points together in the middle:
Finally, tie the ends one more time, making a knot. Tuck the ends in so you can’t see them, and VOILA!! Presto, change-o, pillow magic!
Wasn’t that wonderfully simple?? Ohhhh, how I love a project with a quick pay-off! Seriously, it took me all of 5 minutes to put this together. I was so excited, I grabbed the other Christmas pillow and covered it up in bright orange as well; now they are a matching set, and look great with the pillow covers I made for the living room.
Now go forth and cover up any dismal, out-of-season pillows lurking around YOUR house! Have fun, darlings!!
