Are you enjoying the wonderful season of Autumn so far? I do hope so, it’s one of my very favorite-ist times of year, as you may recall from my last post 🙂
Besides being the most Autumn-y month here in Indiana, October is important for another reason: it is Breast Cancer Awareness month! Many, many people I know have had their lives touched by cancer in it’s various forms. I lost one of my Great-Grandmothers to breast cancer when I was just a little girl, so I’ve had an awareness of it since I was young. However, I think many women don’t give it much thought until they are forced to. The earlier it is discovered, the better it is for the patient, which is why awareness is such an important issue!
Last year, I decided I wanted to do my part to help raise awareness for Breast Cancer, and support an organization that helps people who are dealing with cancer. And of course, yarn had to be involved (it wouldn’t be a very “me” project without yarn, now would it??)
SO I came up with this! (*drum roll*)… The Pink Ribbon Neck Warmer!
This neck warmer is a completely original design by yours truly, and I have to say, I am soooo happy with how it turned out! And the best part? 20% of the profits are donated to Cancer Services of Grant County, a local 501c3 not-for-profit organization that is a HUGE help to individuals fighting all types of cancer.
PLUS… it’s really pretty cute, don’t you think? 😉

What about you? Do you use your crafting skills to support a particular cause or organization? 🙂
