Awhile ago, we talked about creating some wee, little baby blankets to donate to “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep“, a not-for-profit organization that gives care packages to families suffering the pain of infant loss. I thought I should update you on my blanket-making progress!
First up, we have the purple gingham granny square I showed you before here; now, it’s finished!
I made this Gingham baby blanket out of standard granny squares, 3 rounds each. I used the join-as-you-go method to join the squares, which I INFINITELY prefer to sewing them all together at the end. Seriously, that technique was a game changer for me and Granny Squares! It adds a little thrill to finishing each square, being able to join it right away, as I’m finishing the last round.
Next, I made a sweet little pink blanket, this time out of a single granny square (no joining necessary, hehe! 😉 ) :
And then I decided to whip out some knitting needles, a lofty, purple mohair yarn, and created this:
That’s 3 blankets total! Woo-hoo! (I must apologize for the not-so-great picture of this last blanket; the light was failing, but I really wanted a shot of it!). I guess I was in a very purple-y, pink-y mood while making these blankets, haha! 😉 Now I need to make some in more boyish colors!
I may go ahead and send these 3 blankets to NILMDTS, just so I know they have them, and then start working on the boy blankets. All of the blankets I make will be donated in memory of my sweet nephew, Lincoln <3 <3 <3
Since my first post about NILMDTS’ blanket donation need, I know at least one sweet lady crocheted a blanket to donate; this makes me so happy! If anyone else decides to donate to this extremely worthy cause, please let me know! I’d LOVE to hear about it! 🙂 Here’s a link to the NILMDTS Care Package page for more info.
That’s all for now, sweeties! Thanks for stopping by!
