Hello, hello my dears! I have a very pretty, very rainbow-y, very me sort of voila for you today.
As you may know by now, I am on a serious Granny Square kick at the moment; I just can’t get enough of them! The plus side of this is that it doesn’t take much time to work up a little stack of Granny Squares, and I do so love instant Craft-Gratification; the downside is the bazlillion-and-one little ends you have to weave in at the end of the project. I have always loathed weaving ends in, though I’m bit more patient about it now than I used to be 😉
So that got me thinking: why stop the square after only a few rounds? Why not keep going, and make a nice, big square? There would be much less ends to weave in, right?
Oooo yes, now we’re getting somewhere! I really love tonal color patterns, smoothly flowing from one shade to the next. It reminds me of prisms, and of course, rainbows <3 I made the above square in shades of Green, changing color every two rounds.
Once I had a 10-12 inch square, I felt the urge to move on to another color. My other current obsession (besides Granny Squares) is baby blankets! Which is only natural, since I am going to become an Auntie for the first time later this year (and can I just say, I’m madly excited!). So of course the Big Squares turned into a baby blanket <3
After joining four different-hued squares, I created the blanket border by going around the edges with Double Crochet Clusters (UK Treble Crochet), using one color from each square. Lastly, I ended with this white shell edging from Lucy at Attic24.
Alright, I think it’s high time we had a picture of the finished product, yes?
Aaaaaahhhh, I love it! The colors feel very vibrant next to each other, with a sort of summery feel. This blanket is Golden Sunshine, Green Grass, Blue Sky, and Violet Flowers all rolled into one. It is a very Happy Blanket.
Here it is again, looking all cozy-cuddly:
Yep, I’d say it’s all-around-lovely, don’t you think? I really do like it very much 🙂
I have a confession to make, though. I may have already started work on another baby blanket, but this time it’s going to be one big, continuous Granny Square. And of course when It’s done, I will share it with you too <3
Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon!
