I do hope you had a nice weekend. Sunday was near freezing (boo), but the sunlight was fantastic (yay!). I took the liberty of snapping a few pictures of a new project I’ve been working on when I have a free minute here and there.
While making my pretty Rainbow Granny Potholder, I had nearly all of my cotton yarn gathered together in one big bag for inspiration, and the lovely Rainbow the yarn made was begging me to create something else with it.
Since I have a slight Granny Square obsession going on right now, I have looked at a lot of Granny pictures recently, and one look that I have been itching to try is a square that is edged in white with a colorful circle in the middle. So I made one… and then another one… and another, and before I knew it, I was hooked! (and yes, that is a crochet joke 😉 )
My original intent was to make another potholder by connecting four circle-squares, then crocheting a big, standard Granny Square for the back, and crochet the two pieces together. But making four Circle-Squares just wasn’t enough to satisfy my new thirst for making these little guys… so I made more!
Ahhhhhh, lovely!! So far I have nine circle-squares, and I really, really like the way it looks! I think it has officially become too large for a potholder, so I am now moving on to plan B: throw pillow (or as our UK cousins say, “scatter cushion“) cover! I’m not sure yet whether I’ll crochet the back piece for the cover as well, or if I will just use a solid piece of fabric, perhaps from an old blanket or something (upcycling is the best-est, don’t you think?).
I’ll let you know how it goes as I continue to work on it, and then we can have a nice, big “Voila” moment when it’s done!
For now, however, I have to put it aside and apply my creative faculties elsewhere; soooo much going on right now. I do hope I get a chance to slip back and chat with you again soon!
