Hello, sweeties, or as my Grandfather would say, Top o’ the Mornin‘ to you!
Ohhh, I have a treat for you today! St. Patrick’s Day is coming up this Monday, March 17th, and I wanted to make something to celebrate and share with you! Are you ready to see it?
Here it comes…
I created my own pattern for this hat, just kind of making it up as I went. I find it a lot easier to do this with crochet than knitting, since you don’t need to plan things out as much, such as figuring out the exact number of stitches to cast on, etc.
I actually have a lot of Irish heritage in my family (one of my great-grandmothers was first-generation Irish-American), so anything that has to do with Ireland fascinates me. Fun fact: at just over 4 cups of tea a day, the Irish drink more tea then any other people group! Yep, I definitely got that one honest 😉
There is just something so satisfying about making your own patterns. It’s really fun experimenting with different yarns and stitches to create the look I’m going for. Of course, the trial and error process can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but I’ve found it is ALWAYS better keep trying until I am personally satisfied, and not to settle for something that doesn’t quite make me happy. Otherwise, I will probably lose enthusiasm for the project, and it will never be completed. And yes, if you are wondering, I am a bit of a perfectionist 😉
BUT, I guess the luck of the Irish was with me on this project, because I didn’t have to take it out or rework it at all; the first attempt came out fine and photo-ready! (*insert happy dance here!*)
Talk to you again soon!
